That's a wrap on junior golf at Windaroo for 2024!

Our annual presentation dinner was a wonderful celebration of our junior golfer's achievements. Thanks to our coaching staff including Junior Co-ordinator, Peter Martin and to our wonderful sponsors for enabling us to do what we do.

A big mention goes to the junior committee for allits hard work, particularly Isla Chambers, for being the mastermind behind the event.

Thanks to all parents, families and friends for supporting our juniors.

And finally congrats to all our juniors - well done to you all! Looking forward to great things in 2025!

Not ideal conditions today on course but we still saw a great Junior Pennants Shoot-out!

Juniors competed in a knock-out event with players being eliminated hole by hole. After 15 holes Zali and Caleb battled it out over the last three holes. The narrowest margin separated the two with Zali getting across the line to win the event!

Well done to all juniors who took part and the great sportsmanship in tough conditions.

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2023 junior pennants season, Windaroo Golf Club's young talents showcased exceptional performances.

Zali squared her match against a 4 handicapper, a remarkable achievement that set the stage for an exciting finale.

In his farewell junior pennants game, Brodie secured a dominant 5 & 4 win, leaving a lasting mark on the season. Thank you, Brodie, for your outstanding representation of the club!

Chloe maintained her perfect pennants record with a fantastic 5 & 3 result, contributing significantly to the team's success.

The collective efforts of our junior golfers earned Windaroo Golf Club a well-deserved 2nd place finish for the season. Congratulations to all for representing the club with distinction.

To our juniors, your dedication and passion have made this season truly memorable. Thank you for your outstanding contributions to Windaroo Golf Club. Here's to another season of shared victories!

Our Junior SEQDGA District team has done it again – they've brought home the trophy!
What an enormous achievement by these two rock stars! Put your hands together for the talented Tanisha and the amazing Aiden!

Only 45.5mm of rainfall occurred in September, bringing the total for the year to 484mm. It’s hard to believe that this time last year we had over 1,700mm, that’s a crazy difference.
Congratulations to all the winners in the club champs over all rounds in those tough and windy conditions.

Thanks to all our volunteers who not only helped mow but also took charge of those odd tasks we don't often have time to do, taking the course to a whole new level! Our hazard pegs, out-of-bounds pegs and wooden barriers are getting a refreshing coat of paint. Whilst this work was getting done, June took it upon herself to weed, replant and mulch the gardens surrounding the pump station. I personally think it looks awesome.

The course is looking good, with only a week to go until the PGA Associate Championship.

Finally, just a reminder that our annual renovations and Greenkeepers Revenge is this month and I can’t wait... we have some surprises in store for you all.

Stay hydrated & happy golfing.
JUNIOR PROGRAM FINALIST

We are incredibly excited to announce that our Junior Golf Program has been shortlisted as a finalist for the PGA Junior Golf Program of the Year Award in 2023.

A huge congratulations to our wonderful coaches, parents, Junior Committee members, and, of course, our juniors for making this program such a great one.

QLD COACH OF THE YEAR FINALIST

Along with this nomination, Janine Barney has been selected as a finalist for the PGA Queensland Coach of the Year (Game Development).

I'm sure many of you are aware of the amazing things Janine has been doing to introduce more people, in particular women, to this sport. Her Golf Fore Women program sees an incredible number of new golfers join in each week, and our women's membership has never been so high. We are honoured to have her work so hard to grow this sport and our community.
Please join us in giving her a big thank you and congratulations.

The winners will be announced at the Queensland Golf Industry Awards Night at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Our annual Junior Foursomes Championship was a success as our 18-hole and 9-hole players teamed up today.

It's great to see older players mentoring the younger ones.

Congratulations to all our players. In the final results, Rhett and Benji secured third place, Aiden and Gigi came in second, while Brett and Spencer won the championship.

Another Pennants session has come to a close, and our Junior Pennants team has certainly left their mark. We want to extend our congratulations to Georgie, Hayley, Tanisha, Spencer, Laeson, Jack, Owen, and Aiden for their outstanding performance that made our club proud!

Our team secured an impressive 3rd place, with just 1.5 points separating them from the top five contenders. The battle for victory couldn't have been closer, with Mt Warren Park ultimately claiming the top spot with 55.5 points.

One of the highlights of the season was undoubtedly our new team shirts, which looked fantastic. Not only did our players look the part, but they also played like a well-oiled machine, showcasing their dedication and skill on the course.

To all the parents out there, we owe you a massive thank you. Your unwavering support, love, and, let's not forget, the ability to drive a car, have been instrumental in keeping our team thriving. Without you, our team simply wouldn't be what it is today.

A special shoutout goes to Alana Travers-Jones, the true queen of organisation and serving as the guiding light for all our new Pennants players. As we reflect on another incredible year for our Junior Pennants team, we look forward to even greater achievements in the future.

Last night, our club hosted a memorable shirt presentation event, and it's safe to say that everyone had a fantastic time. We had the pleasure of sharing some exciting news about our juniors, and it was heartening to see the smiles on their faces as they received their brand new club shirts.

The juniors truly looked fantastic in their new gear, and we can't thank our sponsors enough for their ongoing support. Without their contributions, events like this wouldn't be possible.

As we move forward, we're looking forward to an incredible season ahead.

Last Sunday our Windaroo Lakes junior league pennants team played their first match against Redland Bay.

* Hailey and Owen won
* Taniesha and Spencer lost
* Aiden and Laeson lost

It was an awesome effort by all our juniors, a lot of our team were playing their first ever pennants match! They are headed to Meadowbrook this Sunday and will play the team from Mt Warren Park.

A big congratulations to the SEQDGA for another successful Junior League Season.

It’s great to see so many young kids out playing the game we all love.

We hosted the final round of matches and it was brilliant to watch all the young players out there. Our Windaroo Juniors had a very successful season and got to experience playing many of the districts great courses.

A special mention to Pete Johnstone who gives up so much of his time to ensure the juniors have matches to play and venues to play at.

Great work by Team Windaroo to get the win in the first round of the SEQDGA Junior League Teams Competition played today at Redland Bay.

Congrats to Gigi, Levi, Rory and Aiden!

We wish the team well as they move to Carbrook for round 2.

Congratulations to the pairing of Jackson Love and Rory Travers-Jones for taking out the 2021 Junior Foursomes.

By all accounts you both played some awesome golf. Rory will be the youngest person on the Windaroo Lakes Honour Board!

Congrats also to our minor place getters -
- Robert and Alex Nieuwoudt who came in second
- Mia Love and Siena Travers-Jones who finished third.

Well done to all the juniors who played today - we hope you enjoyed the experience!

SEQDGA Junior Pennants Rd 1 results

Awesome work from our boys on Sunday 25th of July who played in round 1 of the SEQDGA Junior Pennants.

In blustery conditions, Yevin played our scratch match and walked away with a 6&5 win.
Jackson played at number two and fought all the way - winning the 18th hole to square the match.
Matt had a solid 3&2 victory.
Liam and Brett played great to win their four ball match 4&3.

Our 3.5 to 0.5 win puts us at outright first after round one!

Keep up the good work boys and keep enjoying your golf.

Great work boys !!

The Windaroo Lakes Junior Program is supported by the Windaroo Lakes Junior Golf Committee.

The committee consists of a group of parents who work closely with the club's pros in developing junior golf at Windaroo.

The committee assists in a number of ways including fundraising and co-ordinating junior competitions at Windaroo. Fundraising undertaken by the junior committee supports the conduct of the Windaroo Lakes holiday squad program which provides free coaching to aspiring young golfers.

The junior committee also administers a closed Facebook site that has been created to allow easy communication with both parents and juniors.
